Wizard101 | Professor Redesign Lineup

A blast from the past, I spent the end of last year illustrating characters from the online MMOPRG " Wizard 101" by Kingsisle Entertainment. which is a turn based wizard game played by both children and adults alike since its release in 2008. I spent hours after school as a kid playing through the various areas and completing daily quests.

after over a decade of play, I felt it was time to give these iconic and loveable characters an upgrade, incorporating details from the world they originate from and my own personal ideas.

Ambrose and Falmea originate from a world called "Avalon" based on Arthurian legend, with Ambrose clearly being a Merlin equivalent. I decided to keep Ambrose fairly the same, adding a few small gold accents and changing the star pattern on his robes. Falmea however I decided to take a different approach, incorporating South Asian culture into her design.

Greyrose comes from "Karamelle", a country full of sweets with German and Swiss influence. i decided to add more candy elements and change her style of dress to represent a traditional German gown.

Balestrom is known to be from "Marleybone", a Victorian England equivalent populated with anthropomorphic dogs. I changed his bowtie to represent a lightning bat which is one of the starter cards from the storm school. I added a tailcoat and pinstripes.

Alhazred is the only professor found off campus, located on his home world of "Krokotopia", an ancient Egypt based world full of Crocodiles and Salamanders. Named after a H.P. Lovecraft character, I did my best researching the attire found in ancient Egypt and changed his garm , crown, jewelry, and staff.

Moolinda Wu comes from the land of "Mooshu", an Asian ( primarily Chinese) inspired world. she replaced the former and late professor, Slyvia Drake, not long after her death. I changed her dress to a traditional hanfu, changed up her hair, and gave her more traditionally accurate makeup.

Dworgyn is the substitute death professor after the disappearance of the former, Professor Malistaire Drake . he comes from the newest world "Darkmoor", inspired by gothic horror such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and many other classics. His backstory implies he was created in a Frankenstein-esque way to be an Igor for his creator, so I felt it fitting to give him stitches and discolored patches of skin, as well as updating the shape and style of his tunic and lantern.

Finally, Cyrus Drake, brother to Malistaire. he, his brother, and late sister in law originate from "Dragonspyre", a Russian/ roman fusion with a heavy focus on dragons. I decided to change his normal wizard robe into one that represented a roman toga, and added a dragon arm as the myth school is known for their transfiguration abilities.

This was an absolutely exciting experience, and got the attention of not only fans, but the company Kingsisle themselves.
